Planar Skyrmions at High and Low Density
نویسنده
چکیده
The O(3) Skyrme system in two space dimensions admits topological soliton solutions. This paper studies the transition between the high-density crystalline phase of such solitons and the low-density phase where there are multi-Skyrmions localized in space. The details depend crucially on the choice of the potential function. Two such choices are investigated: in the first system, multi-Skyrmions at low density form a ring; while in the second, there is an explicit crystal solution, and the preferred lowdensity configurations are chunks of this crystal. The second system is a particularly good analogue of three-dimensional Skyrmions. ∗email: [email protected]

Current-driven dynamics of skyrmions stabilized in MnSi nanowires revealed by topological Hall effect
Skyrmions hold promise for next-generation magnetic storage as their nanoscale dimensions may enable high information storage density and their low threshold for current-driven motion may enable ultra-low energy consumption. Skyrmion-hosting nanowires not only serve as a natural platform for magnetic racetrack memory devices but also stabilize skyrmions. Here we use the topological Hall effect ...
متن کاملDense Holographic QCD in the Wigner-Seitz Approximation
We investigate dense matter in the context of Sakai and Sugimoto’s holographic model of QCD at zero temperature but finite baryon density in the Wigner-Seitz approximation. In bulk, baryons are treated as instantons on S3×R1 in each Wigner-Seitz cell. At low density, the energy density varies as n 1/3 B while at high density it varies as n 5/3 B . In holographic QCD Skyrmions are instanton holo...
متن کاملAn Improved Racetrack Structure for Transporting a Skyrmion
Magnetic skyrmions are promising building blocks for next generation data storage due to their stability, small size and extremely low currents to drive them, which can be used instead of traditional magnetic domain walls to store information as data bits in metalic racetrack memories. However, skyrmions can drift from the direction of electron flow due to the Magnus force and thus may annihila...
متن کاملCsu Physics Colloquium
The discovery of a new topological form of magnetic order in the family of cubic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya helimagnets has recently attracted increasing scientific interest. This new magnetic state consists of a lattice of skyrmions, i.e., magnetic vortices characterized by a topological winding number. This implies that skyrmions represent topologicallyprotected magnetic particles with a skyrmion ...
متن کاملFeasibility of using statistical tests in evaluation of non-uniformity [Persian]
Introduction: Non-uniformity test is essentially the only required daily QC procedure in nuclear medicine practice. Noise creates statistical variation or random error in a flood image. Non-uniformity on the other hand does not have statistical nature and may be regarded as systemic error. The present methods of non-uniformity calculation do not distinguish between these two types of erro...
